Logan pays tribute to James Logan Mackie, a Glasgow whisky merchant with an interest in Lagavulin, who in 1878 sent his nephew Peter to Islay to learn the trade. It was Peter Mackie who later launched White Horse and, about a decade after the brand was registered in 1891, the aged de luxe blends from which Logan descends; from 1927 White Horse Distillers was part of the Distillers Company.
The twelve-year-old is credited with twenty-four malt and grain whiskies, including Lagavulin, Craigellachie and Glen Elgin. This 1970s bottle was intended for Italy, where it was imported by G.B. Carpano of Turin.
