VAT 69 Reserve De Luxe Scotch Whisky Wm. Sanderson & Son

VAT 69 was born in Leith in 1882, when William Sanderson compared a hundred blends and chose number 69, which gave the whisky its name. The Reserve, the brand's de luxe version, was launched in 1980, when VAT 69 had belonged to the Distillers Company for decades and was blended and bottled at South Queensferry, in the plant on the Forth that operated from 1969 to 1984.

This bottle, with the Royal Warrant of Queen Elizabeth II on the neck and the red wax seal, was bottled in 1981, in the Reserve's early years and a few years before the South Queensferry plant closed and was demolished.
